Elementor site takeover

Inherited an Elementor build? We audit it first, then fix what is worth fixing.

A developer who went quiet, a build that stalled, a site nobody wants to touch. We review it, say honestly what to keep and what to replace, quote a fixed scope, and finish it under your name.

Signs you need a takeover

The site works, mostly. Nobody trusts it.

You usually know before you can name it. Edits break the layout. Pages load slowly. Nobody can say which plugins are needed. The person who built it has stopped answering, and the client is asking when it will be finished.

  • The developer left, or stopped replying
  • The build is half finished and the brief has drifted
  • Fonts, colours and spacing are set page by page, not globally
  • Plugins and themes are out of date or nobody knows why they are there
  • Backups, hosting or login access are unclear

None of this makes the site a write-off. Our guide to taking over an Elementor site someone else built walks through the same questions.

The audit

What we check before we quote anything.

Six areas, written up in plain language you can pass to your client.

Theme and plugins

Which theme and plugins are active, which are needed, which are outdated or duplicated, and which add weight for nothing.

Elementor version and global styles

Whether the site runs a current Elementor, whether colours, fonts and spacing are set globally, and how much is one-off overrides.

Performance

Image sizes, heavy sections, render-blocking scripts and layout shifts, measured against the usual Core Web Vitals.

Hosting and backups

Where the site lives, whether backups exist and restore, and whether updates can be applied safely.

Access and ownership

Who holds the domain, hosting, licences and admin accounts, so nothing is stranded when we hand it back.

Structure and editing

Page structure, templates and forms, and whether your client could edit the site without breaking it.

Keep or rebuild

We will tell you when starting over is cheaper.

Sometimes the structure is sound and the site needs finishing and a speed clean-up. Sometimes repairing it costs more than rebuilding it. We say which, with reasons, and you decide.

If a rebuild is the better value, it is our standard Elementor build at $999 per site, flat, from a complete brief. Performance work follows our Core Web Vitals checklist for agency builds, and the standard build is described on our Elementor development page.

How it works

Four steps from stalled to maintainable.

You stay in front of your client. We stay behind you.

Review

You share admin access and what you know. We go through the site and its history.

Findings and fixed quote

A written list of what is fixable, what is not, and a fixed scope and price. Nothing starts before you agree.

Fix or rebuild

We finish or clean up the existing build, or rebuild it if that is the cheaper route.

Hand-off

Delivered under your name, with access, notes and a site your client can edit.

Which route

Takeover, Priority Pass or rebuild?

Three routes for three situations. The deciding question is whether you have a fixed launch date.

FAQ

Questions agencies ask first.

How is a takeover different from Priority Pass?
Priority Pass is the urgent route: a 72-hour Elementor rescue at $2,500 flat, for a fixed launch date and a complete, feasible brief. A takeover is the calmer route. We review the existing build first, list what is fixable, and quote a fixed scope for the clean-up or the finish.
Do you charge for the audit?
We review the build before we quote, and you get a written list of findings with a fixed scope and price before any work begins. Nothing is built until you say yes to that quote.
What does a takeover cost?
It is quoted per project, because an inherited site can be anything from a tidy-up to a half-built site. You see the fixed quote before work starts. If starting over is cheaper than repairing, a rebuild is $999 per site, flat.
How long does it take?
Turnaround depends on what the audit finds, so we give it with the quote rather than guess in advance. A rebuild follows our standard timeline of 8 to 12 business days from a complete brief.
What access do you need?
WordPress admin access to the site, plus hosting or staging access if you can share it. We also ask who owns the domain, the hosting account and the licences, because ownership gaps cause the worst surprises.
Will you contact my client or the previous developer?
No. We never contact your client, and the work is delivered under your name. We sign an NDA on request.
Who owns the finished work?
It is work-for-hire, so you or your client own 100% of it. Nothing is held back.
